This past week, our Model UN students participated in a Global Ambassador trip to Mexico City. We visited 2 schools where students took classes, discussed politics and culture, and challenged preconceived ideas about the US and Mexico. We learned so much from these schools and helped one of them reestablish their dormant Model UN program.
We also learned much about the culture and history of Mexico, touring the famed Anthropology Museum and the site of Teotihuacan and its vast pyramid city, practicing speaking Spanish, and experiencing 5 different Mexico City neighborhoods through their history, art, and food. We even squeezed in a Lucha Libre match on Saturday night!
The main reason we were in Mexico City, however, was to participate in the Mexico International Model UN Conference which included schools from all around Mexico, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Wisconsin, Arizona, and more. Our 25 students did incredible, winning 25 individual awards and 1st Place Overall!!! The follow students won:
