HPHS Outstanding Student

Join me in congratulating Lydia Lekhal as Highland Park High School's 2022-23 Middlesex County Principals' Association Award recipient!   Lydia is such an impressive student-athlete who is extremely involved in our school and has made such an impact on our community all while maintaining a 4.68 GPA.  Lydia has volunteered with our Buddy Ball program since she has been in seventh grade and she is currently acting as Student Director of the program.  Lydia is a three sport athlete competing in soccer, winter track, and spring track.  She has been captain of the soccer team since her sophomore year and has scored a total of 41 goals throughout her career.  Just this past season, she led the team to the Group 1 State Sectional Final for the first time in school history.  However, Lydia’s accomplishments are much more than in athletics.  Lydia has been a member of Highland Park Model UN and Model Congress teams and holds the position of Director of Communications.  She is the Co-President of NHS and has been a member since the end of her sophomore year.  Lydia is also the President of the Women’s Issues Club for which she has coordinated many fundraisers.  Last, but not least,  Lydia recently completed her Global Citizenship Project which focused on the lack of female engineers in the industry.  Lydia presented topics on different types of engineering to elementary-aged school girls to help get young girls more involved in engineering-related activities.  Lydia's contributions to our school and community are irreplaceable and we are very proud of her accomplishments.
