Welcome to Highland Park High School

Highland Park High School

Principal's Message

We are very proud of the students' accomplishments in all of our programs including academic, athletic, extra-curricular, and artistic achievements.  Our high school has received quite a number of recognitions over the years including continual ranking by U.S. News and World Reports as one of the Best High Schools in New Jersey.  College Board reported that 45% of our graduating seniors earned a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam before they graduated from our high school.  In 2023, we achieved the Silver AP Honor Roll based on our students' and AP teachers' efforts! We have Bronze Certification from Sustainable Jersey for Schools in recognition of our efforts to pursue "green" initiatives and a number of wellness projects in our school in support of sustainability.  Our student-athletes excel in football, soccer, tennis, cross country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track.  We consistently are recognized for our sportsmanship and have won division or state championships in Soccer, Cross Country, Track, and Basketball in recent years.  Our Music program includes Band, Choir, and Orchestra and our students present incredible concerts showcasing their talents on our stage. The stage is shared with our theater program that puts on a fall drama, winter student one acts, and a spring musical production that are well received by our community. Along with the numerous individual and team awards received by our Model UN/ Model Congress, DECA, Mock Trial team, Robotics team, Mathletes, Band, choir, and Orchestra, and other competitive clubs, Highland Park High School demonstrates that our students, faculty, and school community are focused on all aspects of student achievement!

We also engage our students in community service through our Red Cross Club, Student Congress, National Honor Society, Global Awareness Group, and various other activities during the school year. Additionally, our cultural focus groups like the Asian Culture Club, African-American Club, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Women's Issues Club, and Sexuality and Gender Alliance provide our students an outlet for discussion and expression of their identities and their needs.

All of our students are encouraged to set their individual goals for success at the highest levels and to take advantage of the broad range of opportunities and support our school has to offer.  Students who need assistance with coursework and want to improve their grades should meet with their counselor or teachers to arrange for tutoring or for additional help if needed.  We are always available to provide help to any student who needs it.

Remember that we are the OWLS, and our mission is for each of our students to demonstrate Openness, Wisdom, Leadership, and Spirit as they prepare for college, future careers, and active participation in society.  We are dedicated to serving our students and guiding them as they fulfill this mission.  Please do not hesitate to contact us whenever you have a question or concern.
